2022 Interior Design Trends

The last two years have seen us spend much more time at home. A lot of us have enjoyed spending time in nature and where possible, bringing nature indoors.

You will notice that some of these trends coming into effect in 2022 are reflective of nature and colours of the Earth.

When it comes to trends, use it as inspiration. Don’t feel that you must in cooperate ever single trend into your home in order to stay “trendy”.

Your home is a reflection of you. It is about your lifestyle and what works best for your family. Sure, injecting some current trendy pieces is fun but what really matters is functional, quality furniture and finishes that last for years.

So, enough talking. Let’s get into some of 2022’s interior design trends.

  1. Natural Materials

Get ready to see more natural materials used in interiors and less of the man made stuff. Natural materials like wood, marble and travertine help us feel more connected to nature. This doesn’t mean man made products are ‘out of style’, they may just take a back seat whilst we really soak in the beauty of natural elements.

  2. Earthy Colours

In relation the above, expect to see more natural colours. Browns will be showcased more along with olive greens and alike. Expect to see more of this muddy colour palette when shopping for your home.

  3. Curved furniture and architectural elements

Curved furniture isn’t necessarily new, however, there will be more of it around soon. If you’re unsure about having a curved lounge, consider round armchairs or a round rug or coffee table. The purpose of curved furniture and architectural elements (such as external entry stairs) is to soften a space that is generally full of straight lines and sharp edges.

  4. Handmade homewares

With the pandemic wreaking havoc on the world, many people have embraced supporting small local businesses. The joy of purchasing a handmade object that isn’t mass produced is a great feeling. This year, keep supporting your local, creative business owner.

  5. Lines in hard finishes

Slim lines like kit-kat tiles have been used in interiors widely for a few months, and we’re still not over them. This year you’ll continue to see fluted glass shower screens (a personal favourite of mine), windows and doors. Maybe some room dividers too!
