Myths about interior design
Have you ever heard someone say, “Interior designers are a waste of money” or “They’re only for the rich and famous”?
The truth is, hiring an interior designer isn’t cheap. It can however, save you a lot of money on making the wrong design decisions and needing to start again.
Imagine this, you needed to update the lighting in your home so you went to your local store, bought a really nice pendant light, hired an electrician to install it and guess what? Not only is the pendant way too big, it doesn’t go with anything else in your home and the light output is poor.
You now have to spend time purchasing a new light and organising the electrician to come over again. You also cannot return the original pendant because it is now used. What a big waste of time and money.
I’m not saying these mistakes aren’t okay. Everyone makes mistakes. All we can do is learn and move on with life. What I am saying, is that if you hired a designer in the first place who has knowledge of the lighting industry, you could have avoided this very annoying and expensive experience.
A lot of homeowners these days are investing in interior designers because they want to make the most out of their home. Whether it’s maximising storage or getting the furniture layout right. Over the past 18 months in Victoria, Australia, we’ve spent so much time at home due to Covid 19.
Why not enjoy the space you’re in and stop putting off those jobs like painting the house or laying new carpet simply because you can’t be bothered making selections.
Hiring an interior designer can be a huge help in getting your home to the point of harmony. Who knows, chances are someone in your street has already worked with one and is now confident in their design and enjoying spending more time at home.
